'MAKE HOLLAND GREAT AGAIN' DETERMINED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

The Dutch launch of the award-winning format ‘Make Your Country Great Again’ has just taken place in a key Tuesday evening primetime slot on NPO3, broadcasted by BNN/VARA. A total of six episodes will be aired in its first season.

Says Be-Entertainment MD Gepke Nederlof: “This format is so positive, creative and inspiring that the prospect of it bringing about change, whether big or small, in my own home country is nothing less than, well, great!”

The format, designed to genuinely make one’s country a better place, has already made a difference elsewhere. Like in Belgium, where the first series resulted in a record amount of donor registrations. A second highly-awaited series will also air on VTM in the fall.

On every episode, a team of young TV makers try to make a difference of some kind, in the belief that if no one does anything, nothing will change. There are three kinds of missions: a personal mission, a society mission and a community mission. Universal problems, such as food waste and plastic consumption, are tackled, but there’s also room for smaller, fun missions. In the process, the team tries to show viewers that they too can play a role in making their country great again.

‘Make Your Country Great Again’ received a Grand Prix Award in the category Entertainment at the World Media Festival last May. Most recently it was highlighted by the Content Innovation Awards in Cannes, which nominated the format in two categories: Best Use of Social Media Program of the year and Best Factual Entertainment Program of the year. Winners will be announced at MIPCOM on October 13, 2019.
