IMPRESSIVE LAUNCH FOR SEASON TWO OF ‘DESTINATION X’ IN BELGIUM
The new year began on a high note for ‘Destination X’ as season two of the adventure reality format in Belgium surpassed all expectations last Sunday. The premiere episode captured an impressive overnight market share of 44.1% in the 18-44 demo, up against fierce competition on the competing channels, and almost doubling the channel average for Sunday evenings. Just days prior to the season premiere, the Flemish audience was treated to a celebrity ‘Destination X-Mas’ special, which aired successfully (32.9%, 18-44 consolidated) on Christmas day, setting the stage for the much anticipated second season.
Excitement for ‘Destination X’ continues to grow with upcoming premiers in the US (NBC) and UK (BBC) later this year, along with a first season in Denmark (DR) and a confirmed second season in The Netherlands (RTL4).
‘Destination X’ blends adventure travel reality with a sophisticated guessing game. Ten contestants embark on a journey on board the innovative blacked-out Destination X bus for the ultimate road trip, where nothing is what it seems. Contestants have no idea where they are and must play games to win clues leading them to the correct location. They face creative deceptions designed to mislead them at every turn. It’s up to them to discern which clues are genuine. Each episode ends with the contestant whose guess is furthest from the bus's actual location leaving the game, losing their chance at a big cash prize. Viewers can join in at home and enjoy the reveal of each episode's clever clues and deceptions.
Gepke Nederlof, Managing Director of Be-Entertainment, remarked: “This strong launch of the second season demonstrates that the format has already cultivated a devoted fanbase in its home territory and established its place as a leading brand in the adventure reality genre."
‘Destination X’ was created and produced by Geronimo, the award-winning team behind ‘The Big Job Switch’ and ‘Doctor Davy’.
